A daylight clip taken from a nearby balcony appears to suggest the terrifying situation followed a disagreement in the shopping centre as a seven-strong group of men can be seen dispersing across a car park as a shot and shouting can be heard at the beginning of the footage.

The gun-toting man then chases the four boys across a nearby busy road, forcing drivers to slow down as they swerve around the group.

As he pulls the trigger, a shot rings out – but the man, who is wearing jeans and a T-shirt, manages to escape.

The victim then desperately tries to scramble up the pavement away from his attacker, who appears to give up before running up a nearby busy road. The rest of the group can be seen getting into a car to escape the suburb, where the average house price is £280,000.

As the gunman disappears around a corner, he begins to sprint and the cameraman can be heard saying ‘they’re coming for you’. The clip ends as the car carrying the victims speeds away and a group of people begin to gather at the scene.

The local resident who shot the video, who wished to only be named as Andrew, said he started filming after seeing the commotion spill out from the shopping centre.

He told MailOnline: ‘I looked over and decided to record it. I honestly thought it was some guys having a punch up or something like that.

‘There was a lot of commotion and then these kids broke out of the crowd and ran away and the guy with the gun ran after them and opened fire.

‘I couldn’t believe what I was filming. I’ve never seen anything like that outside my house, I was just left wondering what the hell is going on out there. It’s London, I don’t expect to see that sort of stuff.’

Metropolitan Police confirmed it was aware of an incident in Edmonton yesterday and said officers discovered no one injured at the scene. No one has been arrested and evidence of a discharged blank firearm was discovered.

Anyone with any information about this incident are asked to contact Trident on 0208 217 7301. Alternatively, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
